I don't know about you, but I may or may not have indulged quite a bit over the past few days... So, thinking about food is, in some ways, the last thing on my mind. I thought perhaps we could all use something delicious and nutritious to help get our health back on the right track without making our tastebuds weep for the cookie jar.
This smoothie makes a great breakfast or snack, or even a light lunch. I love having it for breakfast because I always feel so accomplished when I've had a whole serving or more of veggies by 9 am! For some good fat, you can also add a bit of avocado or some peanut butter. Sometimes, I add a bit of raw cocoa powder too for a chocolatey option. :)
Green Goodness Smoothie
enough for one large or two small smoothies
adapted from Oh She Glows
1 ripe banana, peeled and broken into chunks and then frozen
2 handfuls raw spinach
8ish oz milk
squirt of honey (to taste)
sprinkle of cinnamon
optional add-ins
frozen or raw strawberries
cocoa powder (Tbs)
peanut butter or other nut butter (1-2 Tbs)
1/2 an avocado
hemp seeds
ice* (you may want ice either way, if you want the smoothie colder)
Place all non-liquid ingredients into your blender. Add a few ounces of milk (dairy or otherwise) at a time and blend until smooth. Add ice and blend until ice is crushed well. Remember, you can always add more liquid, but can't take any away...so add slowly! Toast to your holiday "recovery"!
